Patriot activist, Quaker, warm personal friend of George Washington. As an officer in the Continental Army, he served at the battles of Trenton, Princeton, Germantown, Brandywine, and Monmouth. Later appointed US Marshal of Pennsylvania by Washington. 3-page legal-size manuscript document concerning a dispute over payment of a bill.
