naturalist and ornithologist, best known for the publication of “The Birds
of America,” which depicted over 300 species of birds individually stone
lithographed and hand-colored. A hand-written copy of a bill
concerning Audubon’s engraver in London. Several lines in one section
are written in Audubon’s hand, authorizing payments. Elegantly signed
“John J. Audubon.” An attractive, fine and very rare document.

naturalist John J. Audubon, she was her husband's biographer and editor of
his diaries. Two-page letter written and signed by Mrs. Audubon,
dated March 10, (1870), at New York. The letter is addressed to
THOMAS MAYO BREWER (1814-1880), an important naturalist who spent
years building on Audubon's work on North American birds. She
introduces herself to Mr. Brewer, invites him to visit, and discusses her
publishing troubles concerning her biography of Audubon. Signed "L.
